Erly
Thornton - Saxophonist
Erly J. Thornton III is an accomplished musician with over
30 years experience with the saxophone. Genre of choice is Contemporary
Jazz and Funk.
Erly was influenced at an early age by the works of Ray Charles.
He later was captured by the funk style of The Brecker Brothers
Band, David Sanborn, early Kenny G, and others. Playing with R &
B groups in high school, Contemporary and Big Band Jazz groups in
college, and later professionally for several years has enabled
Erly to bring a wealth of sound experience to his performances.
These influences have enabled him to put together a jazz style that
is smooth yet, funky enough to keep you graciously entertained!
Erly has performed his "one-man show" in the Orlando
area for local jazz clubs, restaurants, corporate and private parties.
Schedule infomration wil be posted as it becomes available.
Full Bio and Head shot can be obtained here.
Recently
Erly performed as the lead sax player for the former Central Florida
Jazz group, B.One. The genre was Smooth Jazz and B.One
distinguished itself by performing only originals composed by the
group. This was a refreshing break as it seems as if much of the
creativity has been leaving the genre as bands are pressured to
do mostly remakes by their parent record companies. Erly co-wrote
and contributed to much of the bands early music.
